Inspection teams of the General Administration of Civil Defense in Abu Dhabi carried out a clampdown on Ramadan tents, to ensure their compliance with public safety requirements and ensure safety for all.

The Department urged individuals, hotels and restaurants to adhere to the requirements of public safety when setting up Ramadan tents, particularly with respect to electrical installations that should comply with the conditions and technical specifications, especially power generators, to avoid the risks that may arise from any technical defect.

Colonel Mohammed Abdullah Al Nuaimi, Acting Director General of Abu Dhabi Civil Defense, stated that civil defense efforts during the month of Ramadan are focused on achieving the highest level of safety in all facilities and installations, notably Ramadan tents, adding that the numerous events during the Holy Month of Ramadan require raising the levels of prevention and safety.

He noted that the inspectors of the Civil Protection Department at the General Administration of Civil Defense will distribute brochures on the requirements and safety standards, which must be available in all Ramadan tents, based on the social responsibility of the administration and its commitment to the safety of all community members.

Al Nuaimi pointed out that the inspection teams of the General Administration of Civil Defense will carry out an extensive clampdown on Ramadan tents throughout the Holy Month, to ensure their compliance with the safety requirements. He indicated that specialized committees will be established, to conduct field visits to the various Ramadan tents, to ensure their compliance with the safety requirements.

He also listed the safety requirements set by the Civil Defense in these tents, to avoid fire hazards; such as keeping a safe distance between the air conditioning units and power generators, as well as the need for materials used in the manufacturing of these tents, to meet the flame-spreading requirements and to be fire-resistant.

These requirements also stipulate protecting of electrical installations within shielding tubes; providing an electrical switch, taking into account the distribution of electrical load on circuit breakers; keeping flammable liquids and materials away from these tents, during this period; preventing the use of gas cylinders or liquefied petroleum gas tanks, and providing the necessary and appropriate fire extinguishers that cover the whole tent at all exits.

Concluding, Al Nuaimi emphasized the readiness of ambulance and rescue teams to provide support and assistance whenever citizens and residents need, 24/7, to preserve safety for all, commending their high-efficient teamwork.
