The Al Ain Traffic and Patrols Section, at the Traffic and Patrols Directorate of Abu Dhabi Police, intensified traffic control on internal and external roads in the city of Al Ain; to curb bikers who ride their motorcycles in residential neighborhoods without taking any consideration the requirements of security and safety. It is against the law to practice this hobby within residential neighborhoods or any locations not allocated for that purpose, particularly when driving recklessly.
Major Salah Abdullah Al Humairi, Acting Chief of the Al Ain Traffic and Patrols Section, indicated that traffic control has been tightened on motorcycles riders who violate traffic laws and regulations. He noted that there are locations where this kind of sport is not allowed; such places are designated by special signs, namely; residential neighborhoods, internal and main streets in Al Ain city; areas close to Union Street up to the Al Ain Airport Bridge; Bida Bint Saud Area; natural reserves and others.
He mentioned that, the Al Ain Traffic Section started implementing a number of awareness programs, as part of the traffic awareness campaign organized by the Traffic and Patrols Directorate of Abu Dhabi Police, in collaboration with the Security Media Department at the General Secretariat of the Office of H.H Deputy, Prime Minister and Minister of Interior. Such programs aim to raise awareness on the risks of motorcycle riding within residential neighborhoods and on internal and external roads, which can lead to injuries and fatalities due to serious traffic accidents.
He added that traffic awareness also includes inspection visits to motorcycle rental shops. It also includes distributing awareness publications with information related to means of safety; advantages of wearing a helmet, proper clothing and eye protection. This would acquaint individuals who practice this sport, with the guidelines of safe use, to ensure the safety of motorcycles riders and all road users.
