“Abu Dhabi Traffic” urge motorists to make use of the remaining grace period
ADP Department of Traffic and Patrols has urged drivers in Abu Dhabi, Al Ain and the Western Region who have not renewed their vehicles registration to make use of the remaining days of the grace period which will be ending on 31 May 2010, to regularize their statuses and pay any arrears to avoid confiscation of their vehicles if they are spotted driving them without valid registration.
Colonel (Engineer) Hussain Ahmed Al Harthi, Director of Traffic and Patrols at ADP has affirmed that no further grace period will be given to drivers who do not make use of the granted grace period. Traffic control will be tightened up on internal and external roads of Abu Dhabi with effect from 1st June 2010. Any unregistered vehicle will be impounded and its driver will not be allowed to drive it without settling all his dues.
Firm traffic control is in the interest of all road users as renewal of registration confirms that the vehicle is roadworthy to ensure traffic safety and to avoid any accidents resulting from malfunctioning of the unregistered vehicle.
He has also affirmed that the valid insurance certificate does not mean that the vehicle is roadworthy if it has not passed the prescribed technical inspection. Validity of insurance certificate only maintains the civil right for any damage sustained by the vehicle when involved in a traffic accident for both the second and third parties. Validity of registration to the police means the validity of ownership of the vehicle.
Al Harthi trusts that drivers will be keen to renew their vehicles registration during the remaining days of the grace period. He urges them to carry with them all necessary documents of their vehicles, as not carrying these documents is considered a traffic violation which may result in delaying them until these documents are produced.
