Western Region Police warns motorists against weather changes
Brig. Hamad bin Terais Al Dhaheri, director of Western Region Police Directorate urged motorists and users of land road and Al Ghuwaifat border crossing to take extra precautions during the recent weather changes.
The county suffered dust, winds, rain and formation of thick fog which resulted into lack of horizontal visibility.
Western Region is a big area which attracts workers, which made it a transit area for many vehicles and road users, said Al Dhaheri.
Controlling traffic requires huge efforts by police and concerned bodies; however motorists and road users should cooperate to reduce traffic accidents.
He urged motorists especially those coming from northern areas early morning and during the night to be cautious, drive slowly and ensure that their vehicles’ lighting is adequate, to avoid impacts of fog formation and cloudy weather.
According to the National Center for Metrology and Seismology, weather is expected to be partially cloudy in some areas; wind speed is from light to moderate and might become active during the day. Relative humidity increases in the coastal and internal areas during hours of the night and early morning, with possibility of some fog formation in these areas especially westerly.
