Within the campaign "summer without Accidents", launched by the Ministry of Interior to spread and promote the culture of traffic, the Traffic Institute at the Traffic and Patrols Department of Al Ain, organized a lecture on the risks of preoccupation while driving, in collaboration with the Police Schools Department. The lecture benefited nearly 200 new recruits to police schools age between 18 to 30 years, in addition to a number of officers.

Captain Salem Ali Al-Ketbi, Head of Training Division at the Traffic Institute, delivered the lecture, stressing that there are several things that may preoccupy the driver, such as using hand-held mobile phone while driving; or smoking, aggressive driving, failing to make way for other road users, failing to leave a safe distance between other vehicles, and exceeding the red light.

He added that some individuals endanger their lives and the lives of others by buying used, worn tires, and driving overloaded vehicles, which, in addition to damaged tires, turns the car into a ticking time bomb, particularly on curves or when over speeding.

Captain Al-Ketbi stressed the importance of checking the validity of the tires used on their vehicles, and to be wary of the risks of tire bursts, particularly during long trips with high temperatures during summer, as tires tend to wear because of the roads’ high temperature.

He urged drivers to follow the correct instructions to guarantee tire safety, such as choosing the appropriate tire and size, temperature and load control, as well as checking the date of manufacture.

Al-Ketbi concluded by warning against neglecting regular maintenance of the vehicle due to its risks, and the need to adhere to specific speeds to save lives and properties.
