The UAE Search and Rescue Team will participate with the Jordanian Search and Rescue Team in the largest and first-of-its-kind drill in the Middle East. The drill takes place from 21 to 24 October.

Lieutenant Colonel Mohammed Abdul Jalil Al Ansari, Head of the Search and Rescue Team, indicated that theteam comprises of a number of trained and qualified national human cadres who are highly equippedwith the best equipment, mechanisms, and devices. “The aim behind such a drill is to measure the team’s abilities and its mutual responsiveness and support in case of a disaster in one of the states, or when participating in search and rescue activities in a third state,” commented Lieutenant Colonel Al Ansari.

Furthermore, Lieutenant Colonel Al Ansari stressed that the drill embodies Lt. General HH Sheikh Saif bin Zayed Al Nahyan, Deputy Prime Minister and Minister of Interior’s patronage and its unlimited support to the UAE Search and Rescue Team. The team has become a leader in areas of search rescue in the region.

The drill is part of the UAE Search and Rescue Team’s preparations to be rated as a Heavy Urban Search and Rescue Team (USAR). The classifications forwhich will be held next December in Al Shaleelain Abu Dhabi in the presence of international evaluators and representatives.

The Search and Rescue Team departed from Abu Dhabi International Airport on Monday to visit the Hashemite Kingdom of Jordan. The participation, which is led by Lt. Colonel Mohammed Abdul Jalil Al Ansari, the team leader, isunder the supervision and coordination of the Ports and Airports Security PoliceDepartment in the Directorate General of Security and Ports Affairs in the Abu Dhabi Police. Thissupervision is to provide the necessary facilities for the success of the task.
