The Abu Dhabi Police Air Wing Search and Rescue Aircraft managed to locate and rescue on Tuesday, a motorbike driver; whose bike broke down and got trapped in the sand in the desert area of Sowaihan.

The Air Wing Section had received a notification from the Al Ain Operations Rooms, reporting that the motorbike of Australian tourist Alex Valentine, 37 years old, broke down between the high sandy dunes in the desert area of Sowaihan.   The team noted the preliminary available information from the stranded tourist, and the search and rescue aircraft immediately took off to search the area. At the same time, the Operations Room at the Air Wing Section communicated with the Australian tourist’s wife who was waiting on the Sowaihan-Al Sad main road, and provided the coordinates to the Operations Room who in turn passed it to the Search and Rescue Aircraft.

The Air Wing section aircraft managed to locate the Australian tourist stranded in the sand in just one hour. The medical team examined the man, who was found in a good condition, yet suffering severe thirst. He was given first-aid and directed to the correct road where his wife was waiting.  Alex Valentine extended his thanks and appreciation to both Al Ain Operations Room and the Air Wing Section for their timely and rapid assistance. 

Furthermore, Brigadier Pilot Ali Mohamed Al Mazroui, Director of the Air Wing Department at Abu Dhabi Police urged individuals wishing to do inland excursions in their cars or motorbikes, to use the navigation devices available in local markets, to help   the search and rescue aircraft locate them easily in the event of any accident or malfunction.
