The Security Media Department at the General Secretariat of H.H Deputy Prime Minister and Minister of Interior held its first consultative meeting at the Department’s GHQ. The meeting was attended by a large number of journalists; representatives from daily newspapers published in all languages in the State; as well as the entire press team of the Security Media Department.

Media Expert Abdullah Shaheen, Head of the Press branch at the Security Media, welcomed colleagues in charge of covering the Ministry of Interior’s news, from the various Arabic, English and Asian newspapers. He lauded their permanent cooperation with the Security Media Department for the benefit of both the nation and the public.
Shaheen indicated that this consultative meeting aims to highlight the work methodologies and innovations at the Security Media Department. The meeting also discussed ways to strengthen relations and mutual understanding between police and media in the interest of both parties. Moreover, attendees addressed the main obstacles and identified observations and proposals provided by journalists regarding their work with the various departments at the Ministry, and with the Security Media Department in particular.

Concluding, attendees agreed on several topics of common interest related to the conduct of work, namely; holding more press conferences with police senior officials to announce any new developments in their area of work. This would allow journalists to seek detailed information from its official sources; to have accurate information on issues that affect people’s rights; and to uncover various crimes and their circumstances, in the legal or social framework.
