The Abu Dhabi police General Headquarters, represented by the Directorate General of Central Operations, carried out a series of induction courses and qualifying techniques on dealing with disasters for new recruits at police schools. Recruits also took part on Wednesday evening in a practical exercise on the techniques of dealing with crisis and disasters in the area of Al Shalila.

Major Omar Al Zaheri, Head of Training Department at the Emergency and Public Safety Directorate, stated that the participants demonstrated high efficiency in the implementation of the techniques of dealing with crisis and disasters, which would raise the efficiency of police in search and rescue operations; adding that further sessions will be held in this respect for new recruits in coordination with police schools.

He added that the UAE Search and Rescue team at the Emergency and Public Safety Directorate; winner of the international accreditation of International Search and Rescue, participated effectively in the processes of rehabilitation and training of police schools students in search and rescue operations.

For his part, Lt. Mohammed Jassim Al Hosani, Director of Planning and Follow-up Division at the Training Department of the Emergency and Public Safety Directorate, said that induction courses and qualifying techniques on dealing with disasters for new recruits at police schools included training on the required skills to save lives in high places by using ropes and special equipment, as well as using police dogs to locate injured people under the rubble.

The courses, supervised by a number of highly qualified local trainers, from the Emergency and Public Safety Department, addressed methods of securing collapsed buildings, breaking through barriers and obstacles to reach the injured under the rubble, and saving them in a professional manner via special equipments.
