The Western Region Police Directorate concluded its awareness activities, which were held on the sidelines of the Al Gharbia Watersports Festival in Al Mirfa. The activities included awareness events and marketing initiatives of police services offered to the public and the participants.

Contests with topics covering police, culture and folklore were held at the Corniche Theatre and witnessed a large participant turnout. Dozens of gifts were distributed to different age groups at the festival.

Colonel Ojeil Ali Abdullah Al Junaibi, Director of the Western Region Police Directorate, said that the Directorate’s participation exemplifies its efforts to communicate with the public according to the Abu Dhabi Police General Headquarters’ strategy, which aims to introduce police services to the public and increase the community’s confidence in police services and public safety.

He also pointed out that the police’s participation conveyed a message about raising security awareness and safety. In addition, police efforts for enhancing the community’s safety and security were highlighted.

Moreover, he said the police’s role in the Western Region was introduced to the participants. He clarified that police activities and programs focused on raising awareness on the importance of avoiding dangers of the sea, risks of sailing, and obstacles that vacationers, watersport practitioners and swimmers may encounter, especially for teens and young adults.

Events included organizing awareness tours for the public and participants regarding watersports, through direct contact and information exchange; hundreds of brochures and awareness booklets on the dangers of the sea and children’s safety were distributed.
