The Ministry of Interior (MoI) has warned the members of the public against falling prey to electronic scams gangs.

Brigadier Mohammed Saleh Baddah, Director of Public Relations at the Ministry of Interior urged members of the public against sharing personal information, particularly bank details, to anyone over the phone or online to prevent it falling into the wrong hands.

He also appealed to citizens, residents and visitors who receive hoax calls or text messages to cooperate by reporting any such practices to the police stations to take necessary actions and track offenders who employ advanced phone and online fraudulent methods.

The UAE economic prosperity and increasing per capita income have prompted some scammers to think of innovative ways to deceive people and rob them electronically, he noted urging the pubic to pay attention and inform competent authorities when they receive suspicious messages.
