The Ministry of Interior signed a cooperation and partnership agreement with the Automobile and Touring Club – UAE, regarding issuing international driving licenses and the Carnet de Passage en Douane (CPD) from the branches of the Ministry of Interior.
The signing of the agreement reflects the commitment of both parties to support and empower the current strategic partnership in order to serve the public with efficient means. It also follows the directives of the government’s strategy to promote the partnership between government institutions and its partners across different sectors, as well as to facilitate and provide distinguished social services to all community categories based on sharing and cooperation. This strategy aims to achieve mutual goals and eventually guarantee development, progress, and prosperity to the country.

Signatories of the agreement at the Ministry of Interior were Lt. General Saif Abdullah Al Sha’far, Undersecretary at the Ministry of Interior and HE Dr. Mohammed Ahmed Ben Sulayem, ATCUAE President, Fédération Internationale de l'Automobile (FIA) Vice President and member of Alliance Internationale de Tourisme (AIT), which is authorized by the National Transport Authority (NTA) in Dubai.

The agreement aims to reduce the time required to issue international driving licenses and CPDs to all community categories residing in the country according to the road transportation law in the UAE and the applicable regulations of the Ministry of Interior. It also aims to save time and efforts for public members who want to obtain international driving licenses and CPDs from service branches at the traffic and licensing departments across the country.

Lt. General Al Sha’far said: “Based on the directives of Lt. General HH Sheikh Saif bin Zayed Al Nahyan, Deputy Prime Minister and Minister of Interior, this agreement empowers the partnership with the federal and local institutions and entities to achieve our mutual goals, and reflects our belief in the collaborative work and the support of serious initiatives that provide distinguished services.”

“Communicating and collaborating with ATCUAE and the other concerned entities represents an essential principle among the strategies followed by the Ministry of Interior to achieve its vision and future goals,” he added.

Lt. General Al Sha’far stressed the continuous dedication of the Ministry of Interior towards the integration of efforts and exchange of expertise with federal and local institutions and entities. “As an integral part of the strategy of the Ministry of Interior, these efforts deliver distinguished services to the public. This strategy has achieved great milestones in this field during the past few years,” he explained.

Mohammed Ben Sulayem expressed his gratitude and appreciation to the ministry’s team for their cooperation with the ATCUAE team.

He said that the Ministry of Interior is one of the strategic partners of the club, and that the two sides are committed to empowering the strategic partnership in an efficient way according to the institutional system, in order to unite all efforts to serve the community.

Present at the signing ceremony were Brigadier General Gaith Hasan Al Zaabi, Director General, Traffic Coordination Department, Ministry of Interior; Colonel Hussein Mahmoud Al Awadi, Acting Director of Public Relations Department; Major Sultan Al Darmaki from the International Cooperation Department at the Ministry of Interior; and Major Ali Saeed Al Shehi, from the Traffic Coordination Department, Ministry of Interior. Ahmad Mohammed Ben Sulayem and Dr. Enj. Nadhem Bin Taher, Executive Director of Service Centre Sector at the NTA, were present on behalf of ATCUAE.
