An advanced specialized course organized by the General Department of Punitive Reformatory Establishments in the Ministry of Interior (MOI) in cooperation with the American Correctional Association (ACA), was held at the Officers Training Center. The course will last for three weeks till the 3rd of April, and will be attended by directors, heads of punitive and reformatory divisions in establishments across the country.

Brigadier Sami Hareb Al Munthari, Director, Human Resources and Support Services Department at the General Department of Punitive Reformatory Establishments, who is also the General Coordinator and Facilitator of the course, delivered a speech in which he stressed the keenness of the MOI to elevate the comprehensive training system, especially in regards to punitive and reformatory establishments.

He noted that organizing this training course, a first of its kind, in cooperation with one of the leading specialized organization established in 1870, aims at exploring latest experiences in the field of punitive and reformatory establishments.

He explained that the course includes theoretical lectures, workshops and practical applications that aim at developing skills of modern methods adopted in this specialized field in a way that reflects positively on the performance level of the work. 10 renowned trainers specialized in punitive and reformatory establishments from the USA participated in the course, and the training material included the latest systems and principles adopted in this field.

The inauguration was attended by Major Abdullah Saeed Sebaa, Acting Manager of Officers Training Institute; Nathan Pearl, Director, Louisiana State Penitentiary; Jeffery Washington, Vice Executive Manager of ACA; and Elizabeth Candle, Healthcare Consultant at ACA.
