In partnership with the Higher Corporation for Specialized Economic Zones; the Directorate General of Traffic and Patrols at Abu Dhabi Police kicked off “The Best Labor Camp Abiding by Traffic Safety” initiative, at the labor camp run by Al Jaber Group in Abu Dhabi.
Attending the launching of the initiative were Colonel Hamad Nasser Al Baloushi, head of the Peripheral Areas Traffic Department at the Abu Dhabi Police Traffic and Patrols Directorate; and Engineer Khadem Sawayeh Al Muhairi, Chief Executive Officer for Labor Service at the Higher Corporation for Specialized Economic Zones, as well as a number of officers and officials from labor companies.
Colonel Al Baloushi noted that the initiative aims to reach all components of community in factories, plants and labor camps; to promote traffic awareness among laborers, being an integral part of the social fabric, and solve all traffic issues they may encounter.
Furthermore, Colonel Al Baloushi indicated that the “Best Labor Camp Abiding by Traffic Safety” initiative includes a number of events and activities, notably meeting workers at their camps to assess their traffic awareness; organizing awareness lectures and field visits to evaluate labor camps; in addition to a number of other activities to promote traffic safety.
Colonel Al Baloushi explained that choosing the “Best Labor Camp Abiding by Traffic Safety” is based on safety standards for the transport of workers; and safety standards regarding the traffic environment inside the camp. Selection is also based on the traffic awareness hours provided to the workers (lectures); the availability of traffic awareness guidelines and posters; the level of traffic awareness among workers that will be evaluated through tests prepared by the Directorate; the level of traffic awareness among supervisors; and non-occurrence of traffic accidents involving the company’s buses transporting workers, or run-over accidents involving workers.
