The International Hunting and Equestrian Exhibition (IHEE)’s Security Committee pointed out that 1002 licenses were issued for weapons purchase at the exhibition, emphasizing that completion of the transaction doesn’t require more than 10 minutes.

Colonel Hamid Al Aafrit, General Supervisor of the Security Committee for the IHEE, stated that the Exhibition was marked with a high degree of good organization, adding that all administrative entities and relevant parties concerned with licensing and purchasing weapons procedures was available in one place, which made the coordination process much easier, and contributed to the speedy completion of procedures for citizens wishing to license and purchase weapons.

Al Aafrit mentioned that obtaining a license doesn’t require more than 10 minutes, if the citizen provides a Criminal Status Certificate; which is regarded as a record time due to the high demand for purchasing licenses this year, as he put it.

He called on weapons’ owners to keep weapons in secure locked places out of the hands of children, and warned against allowing unlicensed individuals or people unfamiliar with safety measures from using weapons, as well as to take the necessary safety and security procedures during weapons maintenance, stressing the need to use weapons in the shooting ranges licensed by the state.
For his part, Captain Khalifa Al Faliti, member of the Security Committee, said that the Security Committee’s members are exerting significant efforts to provide an outstanding service that reflects the civilized face of the UAE in general, and to reflect Abu Dhabi Police attention to provide the best high-end services to both citizens and exhibition visitors alike, in the field of inspection; securing entry and exist; issuing weapons’ licenses and responding to all visitors’ queries.

Al Faliti noted that the Security Committee includes a number of female members who play an active role within the Committee, by helping out in the process of licensing purchased weapons by filling in the required data and information, conducting daily sales statistics, and issuing weapons’ licenses in the Nationals and GCC citizens’ offices.
