During its fifth meeting held at the Abu Dhabi Police Criminal Evidence Department, the Emirates DNA Team discussed means to expand the base of participation in the team by inviting personnel working in the field of DNA in the State and throughout the GCC countries, to join the team and exert every possible effort to elevate the work in this vital area, thus contributing to building bridges of communication between workers of this field.

Colonel Dr. Expert Ahmad Marzouki, head of the team, stated that the attendees reviewed the development process all over the Emirates, in the various aspects of technical work, as well as recruiting and training local staff to work in the DNA field; means to continuous and constructive communication between forensic laboratories in order to serve the process of unifying procedures criteria and strengthening the relations at the State level.

Team members also reviewed the communication efforts exerted both internally and externally, as well as extending bridges of cooperation between the various bodies, scientific organizations, universities and specialized institutes in this respect. They also shed light on the efforts exerted to publicize the work and areas of competence of the Criminal Evidence Department, and teaching its curricula at these universities and institutes by experts and specialists.

The meeting was attended by Colonel Ahmad Al Serkal, Director of Biological Analysis Department at the Sharjah police laboratory; Lt. Colonel Maryam Al Qahtani, Director of Criminal Biology Department at the Criminal Evidence Department of Abu Dhabi Police; Major Expert Hussein Al Ghanim, DNA Examinations Expert at the laboratory of Dubai; Major Expert Ibrahim Al Hosani, Expert of DNA Tests at DNA Database Center, and Mona Al Ghaferi, Rapporteur of the Committee. The meeting was also attended by High Commissions of the Ministry of Interior’s teams represented by Lt. Mohammad Al Kaabi and Lieutenant Suhail Al Zaheri.
