Director of Human Rights Department at the ministry of interior, Brigadier Ahmed Mohammed Nehkairah met with Ambassador Luis CdeBaca director of the U.S. State Department’s Office to Monitor and Combat Trafficking in Persons (G/TIP) and the accompanying delegation.
Welcoming the visiting delegation, Nehkairah affirmed the keenness of the ministry of interior to enhance international cooperation and coordinate with the international organizations, government, non-government organizations to assist in the elimination of human trafficking crimes and support victims.
The UAE efforts in this regard have received a great deal of appreciation from the international community and the human rights organizations, he noted.
The two sides have discussed a number of issues of common interest, and ways to enhance cooperation and coordination with the U.S. State Department’s Office to Monitor and Combat Trafficking in Persons. The audience viewed a presentation illustrating the efforts and the strategy of the ministry of interior in combating trafficking in persons at the countywide level.
For his part, Ambassador Luis asserted that the meeting was fruitful and reflected the close cooperation between the two governments of the UAE and USA in the field of combating trafficking in persons.
He further lauded the ministry of interior for its efforts in this respect and the actions and commitments it has made, expressing his hope that such actions will continue and be developed.
