Armed Forces delegation visits ADP Hazardous Materials Unit
A delegation from the Armed Forces, headed by Colonel Commodore Ali Mohammed Al Ahbabi, office manager of Deputy Supreme Commander of UAE Armed Forces, lately visited Technical Rescue and Rapid Intervention Section at Mohammed bin Zayed city in Abu Dhabi.
The purpose of the visit was to learn and see about duties and tasks of Hazardous Materials Unit.
The delegation was received by Colonel Mohammed Abdullah Al Nuaimi, director of Emergency and Public Safety of Abu Dhabi Police, Lt. Colonel Sultan Al Hosani, head of Technical Rescue and Rapid Intervention Section and a number of police officers.
The two sides have discussed ways of creating standardized procedures concerning operation rooms, to reduce response time while dealing with incidents involving hazardous materials as quick as possible, to promote public safety.
Al Nuaimi briefed the visiting delegation about the duties and tasks of the Department in general and about the Hazardous Materials Unit in particular. He explained to them the field procedures and the future plans to build up field work and keep up with new developments.
He indicated that Unit members received special training abroad and in the UAE to gain the skills required to deal with hazardous materials, pointing out the Department has are three hazmat vehicles distributed in Abu Dhabi, Al Ain and Western Region.
For his part, Al Ahbabi lauded the level of preparedness and professionalism of the Unit’s personnel as they were presenting a mock demonstration, wishing them all success.
At the end of the visit, Colonel Al Nuaimi presented Abu Dhabi Police trophy to the visiting delegation.
