With the advent of the Eid al-Adha, the Al mafraq Juvenile Care Center at the Abu Dhabi Police General Headquarters organized a civil and heritage initiative for the inmates, with the support and participation of more than 40 members from the “Al Karab” tribe.

Brigadier Ahmed Mohammed Ben Nakhira, Director of the Human Rights Department at the Ministry of Interior and Chairman of the Al Mafraq Juveniles Care Center Special Committee, emphasized the need for communication between the Juveniles and the civil society. This can be achieved through various events that can positively impact inmates, given that the Center is in the first educational institution aimed at rehabilitating juveniles and developing their creative skills in order to reintegrate them into society.

Brigadier Ben Nakhira added: “the center organizes this initiative with the participation of Emirati tribes, as they are part of the UAE society. By sharing the festive atmosphere with the juveniles, the “Al Karab” tribe members were able to positively impact the inmates.”

Mr. Fayssal Nasser Al Karbi, “Al Karab” tribe member, expressed his thanks and appreciation to the Al Mafraq Juvenile Care Center’s officials, for providing the tribe members with the chance to partake in this traditional festivity, which aims to promote and enhance community communication between inmates and the various segments of society.

The initiative, which was attended by a number of officials from the Al Mafraq Juvenile care Center and members of the “Al Karab” tribe, featured authentic traditional Emirati activities. The tribe members provide the juveniles with a traditional tent, horse and camel rides, and showed them various types of hawks. In addition to that, inmates took part in a heritage contest and received cash prizes. At the end of the event, the Al Mafraq Juvenile Care Center and the “Al Karab” tribe exchanged commemorative shields.
