The Al Ain Police arrested two Arabs accused of buying jewelry and various goods with forged credit cards. The value of purchases from different shops in the cities of Dubai and Al Ain amounted to 150,000 dirhams. The culprits, in collaboration with their partners in an Arab country, planned to forge their identities and the credit cards.

The Al Ain Police Directorate had received information on the existence of the two Arabs who used credit cards and false identities to buy jewelry and other goods from different stores in the State.

Brigadier General Hamad Ajlan Al Amaimi, Director of Al Ain Police Directorate, said that a team was formed in order to arrest the perpetrators according to the received information.

“The investigations revealed that the accused targeted jewelry stores in malls. The concerned authorities, in collaboration with the General Directorate of Criminal Investigation in Dubai Police General Headquarters, arrested them inside a jewelry shop in the Al Ain commercial center. They were found in possession of nine identity cards and credit cards,” he added.

He also stated that one credit card used by the perpetrators belonged to an American woman who has never visited the United Arab Emirates, and was not aware of their purchases.

“We found gold jewelry, perfume, 25 credit cards, and a set of sports apparel in the perpetrators’ home after an inspection. The two accused confessed to the charges against them and were then referred to the public prosecutor,” he continued.

Brigadier Hamad Al Amaimi urged finally the public of the necessity to be aware of such fraud and to be mindful of credit card activity in order to not be vulnerable to robbery or fraud. He also stressed the urgency to notify the nearest police station in case of credit card loss or robbery.
