As of Sunday, the Al Ain Civil Defense Department launches an awareness-raising initiative on the dangers of car fires under the theme “Always with you… For Everyday Needs”
Lt. Colonel Rashid Hamar Ain Al Darmaki, Director of Al Ain Civil Defense Department indicated that this initiative is the second of its kind organized by the Department in cooperation with the Vehicle Licensing Department. It will be carried out at ADNOC for vehicle-inspection service centers; the main vehicle inspection center; as well as Masaken and Al Wagan centers, where fire extinguishers and guidance booklets will be distributed to motorists.
Furthermore, he noted that the initiative comes in line with the directives of the Police Leadership, to implement the Ministry's strategic policies and plans, with a view to spread precautionary awareness and implement safety requirements at all vital facilities. This initiative also aims to promote general safety requirements in public and private properties, and support awareness efforts designed to prevent accidents.
“The vehicle fire incidents that recently occurred were due to a lack of awareness among motorists and car owners on the need to have a fire extinguisher available in the vehicle, as well as the risks associated with the failure to perform regular maintenance”, explained Al Darmaki.
Concluding, he emphasized the department’s keenness to deliver the awareness message on fire hazards to all members of society, and acquaint them with the proper means to use fire extinguishers and avoid fires. He also warned them against failing to perform regular maintenance, and its negative impacts on increasing car fires incidents.
