The Abu Dhabi Police Olympic Women’s shooting team won a total of 6 medals: one gold medal, three silver medals and two bronze medals during the Thailand Open Shooting Championship.

 At Abu Dhabi International Airport, Major General Ahmed Nasser Al Raisi, Director General of Abu Dhabi Police Central Operations, greeted the team upon its return to the country.

Al Raisi congratulated the women’s team on this achievement, stressing the keenness of the higher leadership and its attention to encourage female members to reach excellence in all areas, particularly in sporting activities. He also extended the congratulations of Lt. General His Highness Sheikh Saif Bin Zayed Al Nahyan, Deputy Prime Minister, and Minister of Interior for achieving such a victory in the championship.

Major Ibrahim Matrooshi, Director of Shooting Branch in Abu Dhabi Police, noted that the great achievement made by the women’s team comes in line with the police leadership’s keenness and continuous attention to support sports activities. He noted that the team’s morals are high and intend to achieve greater excellence in the coming championships.

Shamsa Ali Al Marzouqi, winner of the gold medal at the Thailand Open Shooting Championship explained that she took part in two competitions at the championship (10 meters and 50 meters). She pointed out that the United Arab Emirates is the only Arab nation to win a gold medal at the Thailand Open Shooting Championship. 

On the behalf of the team, she expressed her happiness for the warm welcome and for the support and attention of the Police leadership to encourage the team to achieve more excellence in various sports championships, at the local, regional and international levels. Concluding, she noted that this attention increases the team’s responsibility to accomplish more sporting achievements in the future.
