Abu Dhabi Police has set a number of terms and conditions for UAE and GCC nationals to obtain permits to buy firearms from the International Hunting and Equestrian Exhibition (IHEE), which will be held during the period from 5 to 8 September at Abu Dhabi National Exhibition Center.
Colonel Humeid Saeed Al Afreet, Head of Weapons and Explosives Department at ADP and Chairman of Security Committee at IHEE, stated that nationals who want to acquire permits to buy firearms from the Exhibition are required to present a valid original passport; an original family status record; a personal ID and copies of all these documents.
Other terms, according to Colonel Al Afreet, include a Criminal Status Certificate “Good Conduct and Behavior Certificate” issued by concerned security authorities, a non-objection certificate issued by concerned authorities in each emirate as well as a labor card “labor certificate”.
GCC nationals have to submit a non-objection certificate to purchase and export firearms to their countries, duly certified from their embassies before leaving the UAE, along with their original passport and a copy of the passport.
Colonel Humeid Al Afreet emphasized the committee’s keenness to issue firearms permits according to a well-advised mechanism that guarantees easy and quick processing, highlighting the importance of giving attention to educate firearms owners.
Moreover, he noted that these procedures come in line with the directives of police commandment to maintain safety of visitors and participants; to implement an advanced mechanism to organize purchase and selling of firearms, and to follow up the firearms suppliers; noting that Abu Dhabi Police General Headquarters have taken all necessary measures to provide security procedures that keep pace with the requirements of organization of the Abu Dhabi International Hunting and Equestrian Exhibition (Adihex).
