Abu Dhabi Police have warned against the risks of criminal responsibly for intoxicants consumers, and their negative medical, security, social and economic impacts on individuals, community and countries.
This was included in a new study earlier published by the Center for Research and Security Studies at Abu Dhabi Police, titled “ criminal responsibly for intoxicants consumer”, which was prepared by Lt. Colonel Dr. Eman Al Jaberi.
The study, 86 pages of medium size, called on the public to contribute to the awareness efforts being made by Abu Dhabi Police regarding the risks of consuming harmful substances.
According to the study, when a person consumes intoxicants, he becomes more inclined to commit serious violations and traffic accidents, a matter resulting into waste of money and lives and damage of private and public property.
The study aims to shed light on the risks of intoxicants consumption and the criminal responsibility of such a behavior, and also on the penalties applied on offenders, said Dr. Al Jaberi, adding that the study also helps increase legal awareness among the members of the public.
The study comes in six chapters and statistical information including the crime committed under the influence of alcohol, possession of alcohol, trafficking in alcohol, its impacts on the social, economic, and security situations for individuals and communities.
The study also includes a legal comparison among some Arab and foreign countries concerning the rules of consuming intoxicants, including the laws in the United Arab Emirates, Egypt, Lebanon, Iraq, Libya, Hungary, Germany, Sweden, Switzerland, Britain, USA, and Finland.
