The Abu Dhabi Police General Headquarters launched on Sunday its second round of media initiatives to protect banking clients and educate them on the security measures to adopt when withdrawing and transferring funds. These awareness initiatives embody the Abu Dhabi Police’s strategy that aims to continuously enhance community awareness on security.

Major General Mohammed bin Al Awadhi Al Menhali, Director General of Police Operations at Abu Dhabi Police said that these initiatives are a follow up of previous awareness initiatives and campaigns that are in response to the detection of thefts. These thefts adopt the same traditional and fraudulent modus operandi that the police have frequently warned the community against.

He stated that this initiative will witness a cooperative effort between the UAE Central Bank and the Abu Dhabi Police.  Together the entities will review a number of causes and important instructions in different languages and media channels in order to reveal the fraudulent methods adopted by some criminals to steal from banking clients. He pointed out that this initiative will last for two weeks.

Major General bin Al Awadhi expressed his regrets regarding the non-compliance of some members of the community to the awareness messages and advice provided by the competent authorities on public safety.  This information is released to the community at large in a periodic manner, and particularly the information delivers messages and instructions targeting their safety and preserving their funds and properties.

The Director General of Police Operations at Abu Dhabi Police emphasized the importance of the members’ cooperation with the police’s efforts in order to prevent such crimes from taking place and protect the public. He urged community members not to hesitate to inform the police if any suspicious activity is detected while they are in the banks, near an ATM, or when they feel the presence of someone tracking them. These preemptive measures by community members should be taken in order to further the police’s efforts to protect the nation and the citizens’ safety and prosperity.
