In coordination with Abu Dhabi Airports Company (ADAC), the Ports and Airport Security Police Department of Abu Dhabi Police has conducted a two-day emergency response exercise and a workshop.

“The main goal of the exercise is to assess the emergency response procedures at the Island of Sir Bani Yass, according to the security and plan applicable at the Airport’s police”, said Colonel Khamis Al Marar, director of the Department.

“It also aims at testing the preparedness and quick response of all the departments participating in the exercise”, he added.

He noted that Abu Dhabi Police is keen on always being fully prepared to deal with any crises whatsoever, indicating that his department is conducting its plans in this respect in line with the strategies of Abu Dhabi Police GHQ.

The workshop held as part of the security plan included theoretical lectures and discussions on the exercise’s program and the necessary coordination operations amongst all participating agencies.

In this exercise, the teams responded to a mock plane crash. The emergency plan has been conducted in full coordination and cooperation amongst all participating units.

The exercise was supervised by Major Ahmed Musabbah Al Merri, chief of Abu Dhabi Airport Police Section, with participation of Captain Ibrahim Al Hammadi, Head of Domestic Flight Security Branch, First Lt. Matar Al Bloushi, Head of Al Bateen Airport Security Branch and a number of police personnel at Sir Bani Yass Airport.

Civil defence, medical services and quick intervention units at the island have also participated in the exercise.
