The Security Inspection Department (k9) at the Security and Ports Affairs Department of Abu Dhabi Police partakes with a special pavilion at the International Hunting and Equestrian Exhibition (IHEE) 2012, showcasing its achievements and providing guidance and advice on pets’ husbandry and care. The Department will also present live shows of police dogs.

Colonel Jamal Habash, Director of the K9, stated: “participating in this exhibition reflects the role of the police in spreading security and social awareness, in addition to its essential role in guaranteeing security and stability, as per the Abu Dhabi Police policy aimed at partaking in the various events and activities with all sectors of society”.

He added that both Emirates Dog Breeders Society and Emirates Animal Care Society will participate in the pavilion to educate the visitors.

“The pavilion will exhibit photos of our internal and external participations, tools and equipments used in training and a presentation showcasing the K9 achievements within its field of work. We will also provide the visitors with advice and brochures on pet husbandry,” he said.

Colonel Habash noted that the Department’s teams will present police dog shows throughout the exhibition, and will also provide veterinary services to dog breeders visiting the exhibition.

In a related topic, Colonel Jamal Habash announced the start of an ambitious program to give numbers to dogs in an effort to count dogs within Abu Dhabi Emirate and establish a database for dog breeders and owners. According to Colonel Habash, the project aims to organize means to deal with dog owners to ensure that dogs are well cared for, and to help concerned entities to take the appropriate measures to address environmental problems that may occur in the future.

Habash concluded by saying: “this program is the fruit of cooperation and collaboration between Abu Dhabi Food Control Authority and Emirates Dog Breeders Society, under the supervision of Abu Dhabi Police.” He also referred to a questionnaire that will be distributed during the participation of Abu Dhabi Police at the International Hunting and Equestrian Exhibition; including information on both the dogs and their owners, as well as the services provided to the dogs.
