The Ports and Airports Security Institute affiliated to the Ports and Airports Security Department at Abu Dhabi Police has renewed the International Training Recognition and Accreditation Certification granted by the International Civil Aviation Organization (ICAO), as per the requirements, conditions and standards contained in Annex 17 to the Chicago Convention.
Colonel Khamis Mosbah Al Murar, Director General of the Ports and Airports Security Department at the Directorate General of Security and Ports Affairs at Abu Dhabi Police, pointed out that the Institute successfully managed to pass the tests related to the requirements of the Civil Aviation Law and Regulations of the UAE, contained in the National Civil Aviation Security Program. The Institute was accredited in the field of training on aviation security sciences, in implementation of the provisions and articles of the memorandum of understanding signed between Abu Dhabi Police and ICAO in this regard.
“Under this international accreditation, the Institute is entitled to hold standard training sessions adopted in aviation and airports security sciences, according to ICAO requirements”, explained Colonel Al Murar.
Furthermore, Colonel Al Murar noted that the national program aims to train security personnel working in the field of airport security, to qualify and equip them with practical and scientific experiences and skills required to obtain international accredited security permits, in compliance with ICAO’s standards and practices.
Concluding, Colonel Al Murar stated that the Ports and Airports Security Institute has obtained the Recognition and Accreditation Certification since 2005. The said certification is renewed every two years, following a number of security inspections and training tests carried out by the General Civil Aviation Authority to ensure the full compliance of the Institute with the recommended standards and practices.
