The Juveniles Care Centre of Abu Dhabi police organized an initiative "My Nation Progress Depends on Me" at the Al Mafraq Juvenile Centre in Abu Dhabi and Al Ain Police Officers Club.

Lt. Colonel Ahmed Abdullah Al Kharraz Al Zaabi, Director of the Juveniles Care Centre in Abu Dhabi, said that the initiative "My Nation Progress Depends on Me", aims to promote the values of good citizenship and encourage young people to participate in national activities through self-reform, pointing out that the initiative targets juveniles at the Centre and normal young students in the city of Al Ain.

Al Kharraz noted that the first part of the initiative included several ideas on self development and creativity, and targeted juvenile offenders of the Juvenile Welfare Centre, who got acquainted with the methods and mechanisms that enable them to develop their skills in several aspects, such as creative thinking and investing free time with useful activities.

He added: “the second part of the initiative targeted normal school students, and was held at the Al Ain city Officers Club. The program included a visit by the students to the Al Mafraq Juveniles Center where they laid out their ideas and experiences to the Juvenile offenders, and gave them an opportunity to see a good role model in them.

Moreover, Al Kharraz stated that the students had the opportunity to visit the 12th Asia Pacific Conference on giftedness, recently held in Dubai to develop their skills and talents, and to present their ideas in order to participate in the Conference’s activities in the coming years.

In conclusion, Al Kharraz explained that this initiative, the first of its kind for the Center, managed to achieve many positive aspects, indicating that there will be other initiatives in the coming days, designed to fill the Juveniles’ leisure time with beneficial activities, to prevent them from falling into boredom that leads to crime.
