The Emergency and Public Safety Department at Abu Dhabi Police has set up a defibrillator device (CPR) at Abu Dhabi and Al Ain municipalities. This step was taken as a response to the instructions given by Lt. General HH Sheikh Saif bin Zayed Al Nahyan, Deputy Prime Minister and Minister of Interior, to install defibrillators in public places across the UAE.
A special team from the Emergency and Public Safety Department has taken the responsibility of training staffs members at both municipalities on how to operate the device to provide this service to the public.
Officials at Abu Dhabi and Al Ain municipalities expressed their thanks and gratitude for the generous initiative of HH Sheikh Saif bin Zayed Al Nahyan, Deputy Prime Minister and Minister of Interior, praising his directives to install the life-saving device in public places and training both municipalities' staff on how to operate it.
The Emergency and Public Safety Department had installed defibrillator at Marina Mall, Al Khalidiyah Mall, Al Wahda Mall, the Abu Dhabi Mall, and the Mushrif Mall in Abu Dhabi. Devices were also installed at the Bawabat Al Sharq Mall in Bani Yas, Dilma Mall in Al Mussafah, and the Zoo. Additionally, devices were set up in Al Ain Mall, Al Bawadi Mall, and Al Jimi Mall in Al Ain. In Addition to that devices were installed in five locations in Sharjah, Ajman, Umm al-Quwain, Ras al-Khaimah, and Fujairah.
It is worth noting that the defibrillator is used when there are symptoms of circulatory failure (ischemia) in a person with suspected heart failure. The symptoms include fainting, irregular breathing, weak or absent pulse, or the absence of circulatory activity indicators.
