The police attaché office at UAE Embassy in United Kingdom participated in the scientific conference of British Association of Lecturers in English for Academic Purposes (BALEAP), which was held in York city lately.
Major Muhammed Ahmed Al Bariki, the Police attaché to the UAE Embassy in London, said: “The office participated with a worksheet which clarifies the academic purposes of the police attaché office, the specialties being focused on to send students in scholarships, and challenges that face students during their education journey.”
The worksheet, presented by Mohammed Al Ansari, Academic Supervisor in the embassy, covered few sectors related to the academic work carried on by the police attaché. He introduced the attaché’ office and its work which is specialized in supervising police members who are sent to study in United Kingdom and Ireland.
Al Ansari clarified that the purposes of the academy is to search and find colleges that are suitable for scholars, as well as giving support in regards of housing, social and medical security, providing the suitable environment for enrolled students in these scholarships, and meet all institutions and colleges requirements.
The worksheet also covered methods to choose students based on the required evaluation in the English language test (IELTS), their academic background and the final grades. It also covered methods applied in following up schooling progress of those students, and giving details and comparisons for B.A and higher education students.
The worksheet was concluded by answering different inquiries about the work nature of the attaché’s office, students, specialties and some statics on graduates, in addition to the progress of their linguistic skills and academic studies. A study was presented on the progress achieved in English language test comparing to the period spent by the student in the college.
