The Al Ain Police Directorate carried out a successful drill to extinguish a “false” fire at the Zakher Gas Station, in cooperation with the ADNOC Distribution Branch at Al Ain.
According to the training scenario, the fire broke out when a private car collided with an oil tank truck parked at the station.

A number of teams took part in the drill, namely; teams from the Civil Defense; the Ambulance Team from the Emergency and Public Safety Department at the Central Operations Directorate General of Abu Dhabi Police; as well as large number of relevant entities. The drill aims to train personnel and improve police performance in the field, in addition to train police and security officers working at ADNOC on how to communicate in cases of emergencies and crises.

As per the scenario, the Al Ain Police Directorate’ Operations Room received a notification from the safety and security office at the Zakher Gas Station, on an outbreak of fire, resulting from a collision between a private vehicle and a fuel tank truck providing the station with fuel. The Operations room dispatched all the relevant teams and competent entities to contain the fire and control it.

All vehicles and individuals were evacuated from the station using sirens and speakers. The station was closed and a preliminary onsite firefighting operation began, pending the arrival of the competent police and civil defense teams. Upon arriving to the scene, civil defense members extinguished the fire using foam and cool water, in an attempt to reach eventual victims.

The rescue team provided first aid to a number of victims; severe cases were transferred to the hospital. Once the fire was put out, the investigation team proceeded looking into the circumstances of the accident, to determine the causes.

At the end of the drill, the organizers held a meeting to discuss the steps and procedures adopted during the process, in order to achieve the best outcomes.
