Emergency and Public Safety Department at Abu Dhabi Police, cerebrated the graduation of 39 personnel who completed two courses in “management of fire prevention in tall buildings”, and “management of emergency centers and fire stations”. The two-week courses were held at the department’s headquarters.
The ceremony was attended by Colonel Mohammed Naseeb Al Nuaimi, the director of the Department and number of officers and the French team members who supervised the two courses.
Al Nuaimi said that the two courses were held in the framework of cooperation and expertise sharing between UAE and France to develop the skills of Abu Dhabi Police Emergency personnel in the fields of fire fighting and rescue.
26 members participated in the course in which they received programs and plans about management of emergency centers and fire stations. They got acquainted with some models on the French experience in this field, mainly from the Civil Defence Department in Paris.
While the other course attracted 13 participants who learned about the French experience in fire safety and prevention in tall buildings. Three main elements are considered by French fire fighting. Firstly, the building is normally divided into three thermally insulated boxes to prevent spread of fire to the other floors. Secondly, it is essential to get rid of smoke which is a major cause for deaths. Thirdly, to evacuate persons from floor at which fire broke out.
