38 inmates from Al Wathba prison undergo rehabilitation training  

 

The 7th batch of inmates from the Correctional and Punitive Establishment at Al Wathba, which includes (38) inmates has joined the rehabilitation programme for labor market. The programme is supervised by the Higher Colleges of Technology. 

1st Lt. Abdul Jaleel Ismaeel Ahmed, Director of Rehabilitation Branch at al Wathba Section said “The programme enter its fourth year. 225 inmates have graduated from the programme since its introduction in February 2007. The first and second batches have already graduated. 38 inmates have found their way to the labor market”. 

The programme is supervised by the Higher Colleges of Technology in well equipped class rooms inside the establishment. The study continues for two years after which the inmates get a certificate which entitles him to find a suitable job in public or private sector. If the inmate is released during the programme he will be allowed to continue his study at the Higher Colleges of technology in Abu Dhabi or any of its Branches” 

The programme graduates are provided with good conduct certificates as soon as graduated, according to the directives of our police leadership. The aim of this project is to allow inmates to integrate into their communities if they show a tendency to follow a decent life and to join rehabilitation programme.
