The Central Operations Rooms at Abu Dhabi Police GHQ received 3,429,844 calls, out of which 786,995 notification calls in the Abu Dhabi Emirate during the past year.
Lt. Colonel Nasser Suleiman Maskari, Director of Operations at Abu Dhabi Police, indicated that the calls received by the various Operations Rooms in 2012 are distributed as follows: (i) 2,077,342 calls in Abu Dhabi, (ii) 1,109,389 calls in Al Ain, and (iii) 243,113 calls in the Western Region. Notification calls received by the Operations Rooms were as follows: (i) 469,894 notifications in Abu Dhabi, (ii) 291,245 in Al Ain, and (iii) 25,856 in the Western Region.
Al Maskari noted that among the notification calls, 481,793 traffic notification reports, including (i) 366,498 in Abu Dhabi, (i) 97,319 in Al Ain, and (iii) 17,976 in the Western Region. Criminal notification reports received amounted to 305,202 reports; including (i) 103,396 in Abu Dhabi, (ii) 193,926 in Al Ain, and (iii) 7,880 in the Western Region.
Moreover, Al Maskari emphasized the readiness of the Operations Rooms in Abu Dhabi Police to receive all forms of calls and notifications around the clock. He added that the all Operations Rooms are equipped with the latest devices and advanced technologies, and managed by a highly trained skillful personnel; providing services to the public, as per the highest standards and quality requirements adopted by Abu Dhabi Police GHQ.
Furthermore, Lt. Colonel Al Maskari indicated that the Operation Rooms received nuisance calls in the past year particularly from children. He called on parents to teach their children to avoid calling the emergency number unless to request assistance. He pointed out that the Directorate organized in 2012, in cooperation with the Abu Dhabi Education Council, a number of lectures in schools, to raise awareness among children on the importance of the emergency number 999 and the need to avoid dialing it just for nuisance and pranks.
