Approximately 2916 people benefited from 27 traffic awareness and guidance lectures during the month of October in the city of Al Ain. The lectures targeted students of both public and private schools across all academic levels, in addition to male and female Emirates Transport bus drivers and supervisors in Al Ain.
Major Salah Abdulalh Al Humairi, Chief of the Al Ain Traffic Section at the Abu Dhabi Police Traffic and Patrols Directorate noted that the lectures are in pursuance of the Abu Dhabi Police’s comprehensive vision; within the awareness plan carried out by the section in Al Ain to spread traffic awareness among all sectors of society.
First Lieutenant Nasser Khalifa Al Shamesi, Public Relation Branch Manager at the section, indicated that the lectures focused on the means to maintain traffic safety in academic institutions at the stages of education. They also explored the necessary measures to be taken upon approaching students’ assembly areas within school campuses and in residential neighborhoods. The lectures also emphasized on the instrumental role of supervisors in maintaining students’ safety while in buses, and while exiting and boarding the bus.
Al Shamesi also pointed out that the awareness programs targeting elementary and kindergarten students included workshops to train students on the proper ways to exit and board school buses, how to sit quietly inside the bus, and not to extend their hands out of the bus’ windows to avoid traffic accidents that can lead to serious injuries. They also focused on educating bus drivers on the need to be cautious to ensure the safety of students of all ages, particularly young children.
