The Ministry of Interior detained 122 violators of the law of entry and residence of foreigners of Asian and African nationalities, including 12 women in various places in Sharjah. All violators have been referred to the competent authorities to await the legal actions filed against them.
The Residency Violators and Foreigners Follow-up Department in Sharjah had conducted a number of search campaigns and raids across Al Taawun and Al Nasiriyah areas, AL Sabkha area, and the Industrial Area No. 5, in collaboration of the Sharjah Police GHQ.
Colonel Ali Ibrahim Al Tunaiji, Head of the Residency Violators and Foreigners Follow-up Department indicated that the campaigns comes in line with the plan, which was established by the Directorate and its sections at the state level, to reduce the number of illegal residents and infiltrators. He stressed that the inspection campaigns will continue to combat any illegal practices in the country, as per the strategy of the Ministry of Interior and the Nationalization, Residency and Ports sector, to reduce the phenomenon and establish a safe society.
Colonel Al Tunaiji also hailed the cooperation and coordination between the Residency Violators and Foreigners Follow-up Department in Sharjah and its strategic partners, as well as the support it receives from them. The partners include the Sharjah Police GHQ, which plays an efficient role to ensure the success of the search campaigns; in addition to the concerned departments and institutions in the emirate.
Moreover, he called on citizens and residents to report any infiltrators or violators who pose a health, social and economic risk to society, by calling the “Sahim” service toll free number 80080. He also urged them to avoid covering up infiltrators or violators or those who bring them in, hire them or harbor them; as they pose a threat to the safety and security of the community.
He also called on companies and corporations to refrain from employing infiltrators or violators and to abide by the law, to avoid penalties. “An AED 50,000 fine will be imposed on anyone who hires an illegal resident and an AED 100,000 fine plus a jail term on the second offence,” Al Tunaiji concluded.
