“Police Friends” program was launched on Monday at the Abu Dhabi Police Officers’ Club. 112 male and female students –sons and daughter of police officers- aged between 7 and 13 years participated in the activities.
Colonel Aref Saif Al Shamsi, Head of Sports Clubs and Activities Department at the Abu Dhabi Police GHQ, said: “the ‘Police Friends’ program for the officers sons and daughters comes under the activities of the second semester’s holidays, and includes a series of social, sports and entertainment activities. 112 children aged 7-13 years, including 43 females, participated in the program.”
He added: “activities started with a visit to the Emirates Park Zoo that allows all its visitors, especially children, to communicate closely with nature and environment through a comprehensive educational and entertaining experience. Kids also visited the Khalifa Hall for Boys and the Skiing Hall for Girls, to go through an entertaining and educating experience. The program also included numerous activities such as a visit to Ferrari World, Splash Park at Khalifa Park and Sharjah Aquarium. They also visited a number of retired officers in addition to the elderly nursing home in Sharjah.”
“The activities that are organized by the Sports Clubs and Activities Department at the Abu Dhabi Police GHQ, allow students to benefit and be introduced to the police forces where their fathers work. The students were also introduced to the nature of their fathers work in serving and protecting the society. Additionally, kids enjoyed entertaining atmospheres during the visits that are organized by the department,” he continued.
Every year, the Sports Clubs and Activities Department at the Abu Dhabi Police GHQ launches three “Police Friends” programs for officers’ children during the first and second semesters’ holidays, in addition to a full-of-activities summer program.
