The Interpol Office at the General Department for Security Affairs and Borders of Abu Dhabi Police organized a day-long workshop to explain the procedures for the application of the ISO 15189 specification for handling biological samples in laboratories.

Colonel Hassan Ahmed Al Hosani welcomed the Deputy Director of the Criminal Evidence Department and the audience who attended the workshop’s opening program. He also praised the participants’ perseverance in applying the latest global systems in the area of forensic laboratories, improving work in conformity with global standards and specifications, and achieving criminal justice.

The Director of Vidlms Forensic Project, Captain Ahmed Saeed Al- Kaabi noted the importance of applying the specifications and the high quality performance it will achieve. Moreover, Lieutenant Abdulla Al Marzouqi, Director of Strategic Planning, explained the general requirements and specific responsibilities of the Department of Forensic Agents.
 
The Director of the project executing company, Samar Mouwanes, displayed the details of the operational procedures based on the ISO standards, as well as the different procedures in handling biological samples from its confiscation to its arrival to the forensic laboratory for testing.

The workshop was attended by officers from the Metropolitan Police Directorate, Directorate of Traffic, Directorate of External Areas, the Criminal Investigation Department (CID), Crime Scene Management, Medical Services, and Criminal Medicine Office.
