The Coordinative Traffic Committee at the Ministry of Interior has discussed setting up an integrated mechanism according to which heavy trucks drivers must fix rear protection to their vehicles and bumper guards/protectors on front and back sides to prevent entry of light vehicles under their trucks during collisions.

The committee also has discussed sticking reflexive labels on all the corners of trucks and containers so that motorists could see.

The committee has met at the Traffic and Patrols Directorate of Abu Dhabi police on Monday under the chairmanship of Brigadier Ghaith Hassan Al Zaabi, director general of Traffic Coordination at the ministry of interior and chairman of the committee.

It also discussed ban on importing spare part that are used to increase speed of vehicles which are not intended for racing, and on imposing  strict penalties on violators.

The committee also discussed teaching high school students of traffic rules and laws and working on disseminating social awareness through the media.

During its meeting, the committee has also reviewed setting a mechanism to follow up skills of new drivers and putting strict legislations for them.

A proposal to stick special signs on the vehicles driven by people suffering from hearing impairment has also been discussed. Accordingly, a sticker bearing “an ear logo” must be placed on the rear side of the vehicle with the driving license indicating that the holder is suffering from hearing impairment.
