Colonel Ojeil Ali Abdullah, Director of the Western Region Police Directorate, indicated that visitors of the Al Dhafra Camel Festival benefited from the services provided by the Western Region Police Directorate, which ensured public safety throughout the festival’s various activities. “This comes in line with the directorate’s commitment to take part in societal events, under the slogan ‘We are where the public needs us’,” he added.

He also indicated that the participation is in pursuance of the Abu Dhabi Police GHQ’s strategy to provide maximum public safety in all activities. It also reflects the directorate’s commitment to deliver the best services to community members in general, the festival goers in particular, and to acquaint the public with its police services.

“The police’s participation takes into account the level of services, benefiting from the success of previous participations as well as the unstinting support of the Abu Dhabi Police General Headquarters to the various purposeful initiatives that aim to serve the community, and enhance confidence in the police services and programs,” he added.

On the sidelines of the festival, the directorate also organized a number of events notably the Children’s Village.  Contests and traditional games for children were held, to strengthen children’s relationship and interaction with the police, enhance communication with them, with a view to inculcate them on the principles of cooperation and service for the future. Commemorative gifts were distributed to visiting and participating children.

As part of the services to the festival goers, the Directorate provided on-site technical support and assistance to handle emergency vehicle malfunctions, to maintain the smooth flow of traffic for pedestrians and vehicles, and to ensure the safety of the camel herds permanently moving in the area.
