Police patrols to combat beggary in Western Region
The Western Region Police Directorate intensified patrolling to fight beggary which becomes more active during the holy month of Ramadan, according to Hamad bin Saeed bin Terais Al Dhaheri, director of the Directorate.
He assured the Directorate preparedness to face beggars and protect the society from their evils.
He stressed the importance of the cooperation of the society members with the efforts and goals of the campaign launched by the Security Media Department at the Secretariat-General of the Office of HH Deputy Prime Minster and Ministry of Interior. The campaign aims to raise awareness about the risks of dealing with beggars.
He urged the local community in the Western Region to cooperate with the police and report any cases of beggary, adding that beggars’ presence annoys people at the mosques and at their residences. He described this act as “annoying and abhorrent”.
The move comes in line with strategic vision of Abu Dhabi Police which aims to promote security and preserve public safety, including combating of beggary and educating people about its harmful consequences.
