Major General Dr. Ahmed Nasser Al Raisi, Inspector General of the Ministry of Interior, met in his office at the Ministry with Abdulqader Obaid Ali, President of the UAE Internal Audit Association (IAA).

During the meeting, Major General Al Raisi reviewed the association’s role in increasing institutions staff members’ awareness about the importance of internal auditing inside the country and abroad, in accordance with international standards. He also received from the UAE Internal Audit Association’s President a copy of the Certified Internal Auditor (CIA) Certification guide, which was translated to Arabic; in addition to a copy of the Sawyers Guide for Internal Auditors and the COSO Internal Control Integrated Framework.

It is worth mentioning that the UAE Internal Audit Association (IAA) was first set up as a non-profit organization in the UAE then obtained a ministerial decree in 2008 from the Ministry of Social Affairs. It now boasts a membership upwards of 2,600 and has become one of the fastest growing associations.

The association endeavors to increase awareness and promote the profession of internal auditing throughout the UAE and the region. It has also translated several references for the profession to Arabic, including: the Sawyers Guide for Internal Auditors and the COSO Internal Control Integrated Framework. The association also seeks to improve the skills of internal auditors and ensure their compliance with global standards and has made great strides in Arabization of books related to internal auditing.
