The Ports Security Institute at the Ports and Airports Security Police Department at Abu Dhabi Police celebrated the graduation of 55 participants after completing five specialized security courses. The one-week courses included: the Detection and Security Inspection course using computer based simulation training (CBT); the Basic Airport Security course; the Luggage Protection Diploma; the Criminal Investigations Course; and the Iris Recognition  Course.

In his address on the occasion Colonel Matar Ahmed Al Muhairi, Director of the Institute, noted that such courses embody the Abu Dhabi Police’s strategy to qualify police staff members and boost their abilities and professional skills, in accordance with the best practices and modern applications.

He added: “The training system is witnessing unprecedented progress in all fields, in a bid to keep abreast of all developments and to provide police departments with highly skilled staff members”. Furthermore, Colonel Al Muhairi noted that 55 participants graduated after completing the course, namely; 18 participants in the CBT course; nine participants in the Airport Security course; 17 participants in the Criminal Investigations course; and 11 participants in the Iris Recognition course.

Moreover, Director of Ports Security Institute indicated that the participants received scientific training and practical application courses that are designed to enhance their efficiency and hone their skills, which would reflect positively on the level of services provided to society. In conclusion, he lauded the graduates’ efforts at self improvement, and praised their interaction with the courses.

Towards the end of the ceremony, Colonel Al Muhairi distributed certificates to the graduates, and urged them to double the efforts in support of development efforts in all areas of police and security work.
