The Traffic and Patrols Directorate of Abu Dhabi Police, represented by the Al Ain Traffic and Patrols Department, organized an awareness program for drivers and supervisors of school buses and students, as part of the fourth Traffic awareness campaign for this year, launched by the Ministry of Interior, represented by the General Administration of Traffic Coordination, under the slogan "traffic safety for school students".
Major Mohsin Saeed Al Mansouri, Director of Al Ain's Traffic and Patrols Department noted that the lectures, held inside the buses, aimed to educate bus drivers and supervisors (males and females) on the need to pay attention; to grant students enough time to board and be seated before driving; to pay attention to young students, make sure they have exited and walked away from the bus, and that they are not standing behind or beside it when it takes off; make sure that each student sits in a separate seat, and check the validity of the air-conditioning devices.
The lectures also focused, through a direct dialogue with students, on the risks of moving inside the bus and failing to remain seated while the bus is moving; as well as the means of boarding and exiting safely.
Major Mohsin Saeed Al Mansouri stressed the importance of dialogue with students as part of the Traffic awareness programs, which contribute in extending bridges of communication between traffic police and school students, particularly in the early basic stages, in order to build a comprehensive traffic culture.
