The Al Ain Civil Defense Department organized an awareness campaign under the slogan: “Together … For Their Safety,” for disabled persons. The campaign aims to educate this segment of society on fire hazards. It focuses on teaching them how to use fire extinguishers, in addition to introducing them to the civil defense team’s work and how to call for help when needed.

Lieutenant Colonel Rashid Mohammed Hamar Ain Al Darmaki, Director of Al Ain Civil Defense Department, said that the Ministry of Interior is undertaking significant efforts to integrate this category into society; thus, it is establishing centers and clubs to provide them with equal opportunities in all fields. He further noted the civil defense’s commitment to this segment of society.

He also mentioned that the campaign includes field presentations explained through imaginary fire incidents. It trains persons with disabilities on how to use different types of fire extinguishers, and introduces them to precautionary and safety measures, along with ways to prevent and limit fire incidents. He clarified that the awareness campaign will last four days in each of the Centers for Persons with Disabilities in Al Ain.

Mohammed Khamis Al Hadadi, Director of the Al Ain Center for Care & Rehabilitation for Persons with Special Needs, said that the civil defense chose students of the Zayed Higher Organization for Humanitarian Care and Special Needs represented by Al Ain Center.

He further noted that choosing these students demonstrates the civil defense’s interest in them. It also exemplifies the civil defense’s determination to raise their awareness about fire hazards by guiding and introducing this group to its work of preserving lives and property.
