Brigadier Eng. Hussein Ahmed Al Harithi, Director of Traffic and Patrols Directorate at Abu Dhabi Police General Headquarters, met at his office Max Bjuhr, Sweden’s Ambassador to UAE. Both parties discussed prospects for cooperation and exchange of expertise in the field of joint traffic works.

Al Harithi said: “The meeting tackled the various means to benefit from the expertise and practices implemented in Sweden, which is one of the leading countries in the field of traffic safety. Sweden is the first country to adopt the vision zero concept for traffic accidents fatalities.”

He added: “Abu Dhabi Police Traffic and Patrols Directorate studied the Swedish traffic experience during the preparation of Abu Dhabi Police Strategy to develop traffic work and promote traffic safety on Abu Dhabi roads.”

For his part, Max Bjuhr, Sweden’s Ambassador to the UAE, stressed the importance of holding workshops among experts to develop a long term mechanism for future cooperation. He also explored the possibility of establishing partnerships and twinning programs between Abu Dhabi Traffic and Patrols Directorate and relevant bodies in Sweden.

At the end of the meeting, attended by John Freelond, CEO of one of the Swedish traffic safety companies, both parties exchanged commemorative gifts.
