The Medical Services Department at the Abu Dhabi Police has conducted medical checks for nearly 400 workers in the laborer residence in the Industrial City of Abu Dhabi (ICAD) in Musaffah. The health checks included assessments for hypertension, diabetes, and urine test to ensure their health is stable. The department urged the laborers to regularly undergo such tests.
 
Major Dr. Tariq Al Junaibi, MD, Head of the Education Section in the Medical Services Department said that the health check event at the laborer residence included a medical check and two educational lectures about public health and safety. The laborers were also provided with medical tips for disease prevention and were encouraged to learn about public health standards for their own safety.
 
They were also educated on proper dental hygiene including the personal hygiene, brushing teeth with tooth paste, mouth rinsing, and sterilizing teeth. They were also instructed on following a healthy diet that includes vegetables and fruits, and avoiding sugars, carbonated drinks, and food that affects the tooth enamel.
 
Major Al Junaibi added that the Medical Services Department contributes to broadening the knowledge of health education, in a way that enhances the efforts of concerned authorities in this regard. Such activities promote the partnership between the Abu Dhabi Police and society, and enable it to educate the community about various aspects health. He stressed that health education for laborers is extremely important as it teaches them about public health and they can realize that.
