The Criminal Evidence Department at the Directorate General of Security and Ports Affairs of the Abu Dhabi Police organized a lecture under the title: “Water Security: Important for Economies.” Colonel Abdul Rahman Al Hammadi, head of the department, and a number of officers and experts attended the lecture.

Colonel Al Hammadi said that the Criminal Evidence Department will implement a unified scheme to manage environmental systems in line with ISO 14001 and occupational health and safety according to OHSAS 18001.

Lecturer Dr. Ahmed Murad, the Geology Department at the College of Science at the United Arab Emirates University, addressed the role of police personnel in achieving a long-term strategy for water by implementing best practices in water conservation at police buildings. “Since water is related to social and economic systems, we should set up a system that includes water-related data. Public seminars tackling water issues are very important within educational programs on limiting consumption and conserving water.

He stressed the need for cooperation and collaboration among different water-concerned entities, whether public or private.

Dr. Ahmed Murad highlighted the efforts of GCC countries in improving and developing desalinization technology, and maximizing usage of treated water. “The GCC has allocated 100 billion USD for the water sector between 2011- 2016, in order to promote water resource sustainability and development,” he explained.
