The Central Operations Room at Abu Dhabi Police General Headquarters received 1,391 calls between 12:00 am and 4:00 am, after heavy rains lashed through Abu Dhabi and its suburbs, accompanied by bouts of lightning, thunder and hail, while strong winds kicked up dust and sand.
Lt. Colonel Nasser Suleiman Al Maskari, Head of the Operations Department at the General Directorate of Central Operations, indicated that the highest number of calls was registered between 2:00 am and 3:00 am, with as many as 560 calls about falling trees and road signs, and buildings' falling broken glass.
Lt. Colonel Al Maskari stressed the keenness of Abu Dhabi Police General Headquarters' different sectors to enhancing society's security and safety at all times, noting that the Operations Room's response readiness was achieved thanks to operational coordination with different police patrols and strategic partners. Accordingly, the Operations Room handled more than 272 traffic-related calls and 197 security and criminal-related calls.
In conclusion, Lt. Colonel Al Maskari added that, according to the response model, points of strength and improvement opportunities will be identified at the Excellence Laboratory, to assess the Central Operations Room management of emergency situations.
